Was thinking about this one... would be nice to have a motor or variable speed winch hooked up to move the carriage; cranking that handle all day gets to be a bit of a pain. Anyone try this or have ideas for how to make it work?

I seen the one about the drill some time ago. I don't know if I'll get time but I'd like to make a power feed also. I'd also like to add a DRO but as dirty as conditions are I'm not sour it would hold up well. It also seems to rain every time I saw. Lol

What ended up working for us was to use an electric drill, which is what we currently do. The batteries on a cordless just wont last given the heavy load of the carriage. Corded drill works great for us since the mill is stationary and within extension cord range of an outlet. Of course, we kept the hand crank in case we move it to a trailored operation.
I would highly recommend the corded drill mod to anyone; it saves a lot of effort when you're milling up many boards.
